Grubs up at The Barony Edinburgh

31 May 2019

I was recently lucky enough to be invited along to The Barony to experience their new menu!
My lovely Lucy and I went along to the historic pub.on Broughton Street in the heart of the city last Thursday and felt instantly welcome by the cosy interiors and lovely staff.

The new menu at The Barony is serving up a range of fresh new dishes as part of its gastropub menu, proving that pub grub doesn’t just mean old-fashioned comfort food. We wasted no time upon arriving and ordered drinks, gin for me and a vodka sour for Lucy. We'd starved ourselves all day to make sure we made the most of having a 3 course meal - as students this isn't a regular occurrence.

We spent as little time as possible when deciding what to eat because we were both hank Marvin - to start I went for the Coley goujons, I'd never had Coley before but I love a Goujon so it made sense. They were delicious, and I even shared them with the two gents beside us because they couldn't stop staring at them and saying how nice they smelled. Lucy went for veggie haggis bon bons and I can confirm that she says they were also delicious.

We soon moved onto the main event which didn't disappoint. I went for the steak pie, roasted seasonal veg and and mash potato - all were absolutely stunning. I love a steak pie and this one rated very very high, and who doesn't love mash?! Lucy had the haddock and chips, which as you can see from the images above looked as good as it tasted.
Lastly we both went for the sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel ice cream. At this point we were fit to burst but both tried our very best to finish our desserts off but to no avail. Which was devastating cause it was so nice but my stomach had no idea what was going on after being fed properly for the first time in months so I had to let my leftovers go back to the kitchen.

I highly recommend a visit to The Barony for class food, class bev and class service!
Thanks to The Barony for having us!
